Ink Chain is an Ethereum Layer 2 scaling network built by the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken on Optimism's OP Stack. Launched in December 2024, it connects centralized exchange users to decentralized finance (DeFi) with fast block times and low fees.

Ink represents the next logical step in the exchange-to-rollup pipeline, effectively attempting to replicate the Base blueprint for Kraken's user base. Built on the OP Stack and integrated into the Optimism Superchain, it targets the friction points that keep CEX users sidelined.
